This Pokémon Day, the #PokémonTogether memory we want to share is about Pokeschool, one of the earliest precursors to TCGplayer.
We built Pokeschool in 1999 to help Pokémon TCG fans share decklists, strategy tips, tournament reports, and more!
We also hosted price information, just like we do today! Though the prices of Base Set cards were a little different back then. In October 2000, we were the 63rd most popular Pokémon site on the world wide web, and proud of it.
Along with discussing everything Pokémon TCG, fans on the Pokeschool forums wrote fan fiction, traded advice on the video games, and joined in Role Play. (Unfortunately, WayBackMachine hasn’t saved any of the early 2000’s roleplay.)
Our favorite thing we found with the WayBackMachine? This piece of fan art by Michael Bethencourt, posted in November 1999, simply titled “Together”. #HappyPokemonDay! #PokemonTogether
Yet another reason why
