Upcoming Pokémon TCG release, Trick or Trade BOOsters, is coming just in time for Halloween, and every card to collect has been revealed. Though the release was set for between September 1 and September 5 in the US and Canada, Pokémon’s Halloween TCG sets are already in stores. Because of this early release, the cards included in the sets are now being revealed.

Pokémon released the first TCG set, known as the Base Set, in Japan in 1996, and later in the US in 1999. The TCG came after the success of the Game Boy games, Pokémon RedBlue, and Green. There have been roughly four Pokémon TCG sets released a year, with over ninety sets in total over the past couple of decades. Ever since the Base Set release, Pokémon trading cards have been a huge success. Collectors are eager to find old cards in high quality and keep their new cards in mint condition, in order to get cards graded and keep the highest value. How to buy and sell Pokémon TCG cards has drastically changed in the past few years, too, as old Pokémon cards become more valuable and Pokémon keeps expanding its TCG sets.

All Pokémon TCG sets feature a select number of rares, and even secret rares, to collect. Cards which feature some kind of holographic effect are known as holo rares. Holographic cards, often referred to simply as holo(s), are some of the most sought after cards in any Pokémon TCG set. Since the 1990s, the amount of holo cards per set has drastically increased. During the early years of Pokémon TCG, collectors weren’t even guaranteed a holo in a pack, as the U.S. packs didn’t always contain a holo card in the rare slot. Now, collectors are guaranteed at least one holo per pack. Pokémon’s holographic cards have dramatically increased in popularity, as they were among the most featured in the Pokémon online card illustration exhibit. The upcoming Trick or Trade set is no exception to the Pokémon holographic magic.
