Despite Wizards’ recent announcement, few details are available surrounding the story of Phyrexia: All Will Be One. What we do know is that Phyrexia: All Will Be One is a revisit to the “terrifying and beautiful plane of New Phyrexia.” This plane is ruled by the Phyrexian Preator Elesh Norn, who’s deadset on conquering the multiverse. As Wizards Presents 2022 host Jimmy Wong explained, “things look grim, terror and oil oozes from every corner of the plane as we experience the fear and joy of becoming one.” Horror fans supposedly won’t be disappointed by this set.

Phyrexia: All Will Be One Mechanics

Currently, there is no official word on the mechanics for Phyrexia: All Will Be One from Wizards themselves. That being said, recently, Reddit was graced with some surprisingly convincing leaks that have many players convinced. Until we get confirmation on Phyrexia: All Will Be One’s mechanics, we’ll briefly be talking about the leaked mechanics here. Since these mechanics are derived from leaks, however, it’s important to remain somewhat skeptical. We’ll say again these leaks have not been confirmed, so take what we say here with a grain of salt. With that caveat out of the way, let’s get into what might be Phyrexia: All Will Be One’s mechanics.

Toxic – Revealed during u/PeterboroughPro’s seemingly confirmed leak, Toxic is a new mechanic to Magic: the Gathering. Appearing in the leak only as a keyword, it’s not entirely clear what this ability does. However, the prevailing opinion is that Toxic is an ability that revolves around Poison Counters, similar to Infect. Unlike the wildly overpowered Infect that proceeded it, Toxic is limited by the accompanying number’s abilities. For instance, Myr Convert features Toxic 1. It’s believed this means dealing combat damage to a player with a Toxic 1 creature will give that player one Poison counter.

Corrupted – Alongside Toxic, which dishes out Poison Counters, u/PeterboroughPro’s leak also revealed the Corrupted mechanic. This new mechanic prevents the activation of abilities until a Poison Counter threshold is met. As seen on Sinew Dancer, this is templated as “activate only if an opponent has three or more poison counters.” With both Toxic and Corrupted supposedly a part of the set, Poison Counters appear to be a significant theme of Phyrexia: All Will Be One.

Proliferate – To go along with the leaked new mechanics, Phyrexia: All Will Be One will also feature some returning mechanics. According to u/PeterboroughPro’s leak, one of these returning mechanics will be Proliferate. Similarly synergizing with Poison Counters, Proliferate allows players to increase the number of counters on target permanents whenever triggered.

Phyrexia: All Will Be One Leaks & Spoilers

With a release date still months away, the official spoiler season for Phyrexia: All Will Be One is still a ways away. Subsequently, we’ve not yet seen any official Phyrexia: All Will Be One spoilers from Wizards of the Coast. What we have seen, however, are plenty of leaks to get players dubiously excited about the set.

Given the anticipation for Phyrexia: All Will Be One, we’ve already seen several high-profile leaks. Some of these have been dismissed as fakes due to their poor craftsmanship. However, other leaks appear to be more genuine. Recently a leak from u/PeterboroughPro drew massive interest from the MTG community before it was unceremoniously removed. Despite that usually being the death sentence for leaks, u/PeterboroughPro’s revealed cards align with the recently revealed details from Wizards themselves. Subsequently, many players still believe these leaks to be the genuine article.
