20 November 2023- Two residents of McConnellsburg are facing multiple felonies after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from cars parked at Chambersburg Hospital over the weekend. Amy Susan Lynch and Billy Joe Treadway are both charged with three counts felony theft of movable property. Both Lynch and Treadway are currently incarcerated in Franklin County Jail.
Around 12:45am on Sunday, November 19th, Chambersburg PD officers were dispatched to the Chambersburg Hospital on reports of multiple thefts from vehicles. Police arrived on scene and talked to three different individuals who all said that their vehicles were entered and items were stolen from them.
One of the victims reported a theft of a laptop, valued at $2,500, and between $7,000 and $8,000 worth of Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards. Due to the monetary value of the thefts, the perpetrators were charged with felonies.
Hospital security was able to obtain video of the perpetrator’s car, however, with them identifying both the plate and descriptions of the two people that exited it to break into the cars.
After running the plates, Treadway and Lynch’s apartment in McConnellsburg was identified and both people were taken into custody. While being apprehended, police say Treadway was found to have bank cards and a drivers license belonging to one of the victims. Additionally, both Treadway and Lynch allegedly admitted to the thefts during further interviews.
Both Lynch and Treadway are behind bars on $25,000 bail. Their preliminary hearings are set for November 28th.
