After a couple of standard online-exclusive trading card set, 2022 Topps Chrome MetaZoo adds some additional layers. First, this time around it’s getting a hobby release. Second, it’s Chrome so everything shines — even more so when the customary Refractors are factored in.
2022 Topps Chrome MetaZoo Checklist Overview
Like the earlier MetaZoo releases, these are traditional trading cards based on a trading card game. You can’t actually play with these (unless you want to resurrect some old-school card flipping games). The base set includes a mix of beasites as well as some new content.
All get multiple levels of parallels:
- Refractors – 1 per pack
- Green Refractors – /99
- Gold Refractors – /50
- Orange Refractors – /25 (hobby only)
- Black Refractors – /5
- Superfractors – 1/1
Battle and Lore cards are inserts that delve deeper into the MetaZoo story and background. These also have Green Refractors (/99), Gold Refractors (/50), hobby-only Orange Refractors (/25), Black Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
Creator cards rank among some of the toughest in the product. These showcase the game’s creators, Michael Waddell and Steve Aoki. A MetaZoo x Topps card is also among this group. Black Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1) are the only parallels for these.
