2022 Football Cards: What to Expect
Panini continues to hold exclusive rights to both the NFL and NFLPA. That means that they’re the only company making cards of players NFL uniforms and logos. Panini also has exclusive rights to the vast majority of colleges and universities, allowing them to picture players in the school gear.
But that doesn’t mean they’re the only company making football cards in 2022. Leaf, Topps, Onyx and others are also in the mix. While they can’t use NFL trademarks, these sets typically dig into prospects and rookies. With new and emerging NIL rights, this also means cards for players who are still in college, not just those entering the draft.
The NFL card season is starting later than usual as all card companies continue to deal with the supply chain issues of the previous year and the domino effect it has caused.
