Keeping the three-pronged approach to the flagship NHL line, 2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey offers the third installment of the year for the third season in a row.

While Extended Series builds on 2022-23 Upper Deck Series 1 and Series 2 Hockey, including new Young Guns, it also relies on retro inserts.

2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey Base / Young Guns

2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey checklist extends the flagship numbering via the Base Set (#501-700) and 50 rookies.

This includes 30 Young Guns and 20 1st Round Rookies, a subset for ’22-23 rookies taken in the first round of the NHL Draft. The Young Guns and 1st Round Rookies cards combine to fall at a rate of 1:4 packs.

The normal parallel selection is also available.

2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series 2 Hockey Inserts

Those feeling nostalgic may appreciate the look back at past designs as 2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey offers several earlier styles. Featuring rookies as the toughest pulls, the three-tiered 1997 Collectors Choice Commemorative set works in a three-card puzzle format.

1997-98 SPx gives a nod to the die-cut NBA design with Sky Blue versions for the veterans (1:60 packs) and rookies (1:40 packs).

Another throwback option is 1999 History Class, issued for top veterans (1:40 packs) and rookies (1:60 packs).

In addition, more recent designs are revisited in 2006-07 Black Diamond Retros, providing four different star tiers, and 2007-08 Upper Deck Retro, which adds Young Guns at 1:24 packs. The Young Guns Gold Stockpile versions are exclusive to Blaster/Fat Pack formats.

The insert selection for 2022-23 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey continues with another ’90s-inspired set: Black Diamond Dominance (#/1,000).

From there, the eye-catching Dazzlers continuation insert brings 50 cards to the overall set in various colors.

Another shiny option is HoloGrFX. Look for veterans and rookies as well as the Future Fame series (1:504 packs), which is for likely first-ballot Hall of Famers.

For acetate fans, Clear Dominance (1:120 packs) and Smooth Grooves (1:30 packs) give a glimpse of the past printed on PETG card stock.

Another flagship fixture, Day With The Cup (1:1,000 packs) is back for a short-printed chase.
